How Do I Stop Sending An Email?
Occasionally you may have an email that "gets stuck" and cannot complete the send process. There may be several reasons for this, such as a corrupt attachment or bad email address. Needless to say, it is an inconvenience!
Here are a few tips that should help get you mail "unstuck".
If you are using MS Outlook:
- In MS Outlook, press the "F9" key once to activate the 'send/receive' function. You should get a pop-up window that shows the progress of your mail being sent and received.
- Left-click once on the "Cancel All" button. This will stop all send and receive activity.
- Left-click once on the word "Go" on the Command Menu (The words across the top that start with "File"). This opens the Go drop-down box.
- Left-click once on the word "Mail" in the Go drop-down menu (below the word "Go"). This makes sure you mail folder are visible.
- Find the mail folder titled "Outbox" - it is usually below the "Personal Folders". Left-click once on the "Outbox" folder.
- In the "Outbox" folder there should be at least 1 email. This is where the 'problem' email is usually found.
To fix the problem, you will need to either edit the email that cannot be sent or delete it and recreate a new email.
- Double click (left-click twice) on the email in the "Outbox" folder to edit.
- To delete an email, left-click once on the email and then click the word "Edit" on the Command menu and the select "Delete" from the Edit drop-down menu.
