What Is The Size Limit For Email Attachments?
The acceptable size-limit to file attachments is 5MB (5 megabytes or 5,242,880 bytes). If this size is exceeded, the email will be returned as undeliverable = or = it may get stuck in your Outbox and prevent you from sending or receiving any email.
Although there are several Internet Service Providers (ISP's) that allow larger files, (some allow up to 10 MB), 5 MB is typically the limit.
If you have a very large file (larger than 5 MB), you need to use an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server and upload you file separately from your email. There are numerous websites that allow FTP or FTP-like file management. The best suggestion is to do an Internet search on the term "free ftp sites".
There are also many company websites that allow customers to upload large files, such as graphics / art firms and packaging companies. You may want to check with the person you are sending the large file to to see if they have an FTP server.
